  5. When importing data, M.Y.O.B. creates a file called M.Y.O.B. Import Log.  It is a 
  6.  
  7. text file‚Äîreadable by most word processors‚Äîthat lists any problems 
  8.  
  9. encountered during the import.  The M.Y.O.B. Import Log file is written in the 
  10.  
  11. same folder as your M.Y.O.B. data file.

  15. ÀáNote:Àá  The M.Y.O.B. Import Log is overwritten during every import 
  16.  
  17. session.  If you wish to save the log, either change its name or move it to a folder 
  18.  
  19. other than your M.Y.O.B. data file folder.

  23. The M.Y.O.B. Import Log first lists any record that generated an error or 
  24.  
  25. warning.  Each record is preceded by an error or warning number.  At the 
  26.  
  27. bottom of the log is a summary of the import session.  The summary is followed

  29. by explanations of the errors or warnings encountered.

  33. Suggestion:  If you are having difficulty importing a record and the M.Y.O.B.

  35. Import Log file is not helping you understand the problem, open the actual 
  36.  
  37. M.Y.O.B. data entry window and enter the record manually.  The error generated

  39. by M.Y.O.B. may be more explicit than the error in the M.Y.O.B. Import Log.

  43. ÀáImport ErrorsÀá
  44.  
  45. There are 27 things that can cause a record to be rejected by M.Y.O.B.  These are 
  46.  
  47. called import errors.  If a record is rejected, the record is written to the 
  48.  
  49. M.Y.O.B. Import Log file.  The record is preceded by an error number between 
  50.  
  51. -1 and -27.

  55. ÀáImport WarningsÀá
  56.  
  57. Sometimes M.Y.O.B. cannot import all the information found in an imported 
  58.  
  59. record.    For instance, an account name cannot be longer than 30 characters.  
  60.  
  61. When this happens, M.Y.O.B. generates an import warning.  The record is 
  62.  
  63. imported, but the warning is written to let you know that some information 
  64.  
  65. was changed or ignored.  There are 115 import warnings.  Import warnings, 
  66.  
  67. like import errors, are written to the M.Y.O.B. Import Log file.  Each import 
  68.  
  69. warning record is preceded by a warning number between 1 and 115.
